SHORT DESCRIPTION: Between 2001 and 2007, in Piancavallo, the members of the Aviano Subsection of the Italian Alpine Club (CAI) carried out an important and demanding restoration project of the historic Capovilla mountain pasture. For this reason, the buildings were granted on loan for use by the Municipality of Aviano to the Subsection, which established its high-altitude headquarters there.
The mountain hut and the stable underwent a conservative restoration that preserved the original structure of the buildings, erected in the years following the First World War (1921–22).
Today, the large stable houses a museum unit called PATH of HISTORY, offering visitors an insight into alpine pasture life through the reconstruction of a traditional mountain dairy environment, the display of work tools, explanatory panels, and a rich collection of historical and photographic documentation.
