SHORT DESCRIPTION: Casa Andreuzzi in Navarons, the old residence of the 19th century Italian patriot Antonio Andreuzzi, houses a collection of documents that testify to the links between him and prominent figures of the Italian Risorgimento such as Mazzini and Garibaldi. Andreuzzi planned to organize armed groups whose actions could eventually trigger a new war against Austria-Hungary in order to achieve the unification of Italy. Andreuzzi and the other members of the “Navarons Gang” paid a high price for their rebellious acts in favor of Italian unification. The fact that letters to and from Mazzini and Garibaldi circulated in this small Friulian village around 1864 makes Navarons historically relevant.
Linked to Andreuzzi’s legacy are the itineraries dedicated to the memory of Mazzini’s uprising – a series of mountain paths between the Meduna and Cellina streams that recall the echoes of the Friulian rebel groups of 1864
